Installation Php Log Analyzer (aka PLA) is a Log Analysis tool for Apache Web Server. There are lots of log analyzer softwares available on the internet but most of them have their own data storage ways. PLA is a tool to analyze Web log files and store results into MySQL databases. By using PLA you can daily convert huge Apache log files into hour, day or month based records in database.
PLA's parser functions can be both called from web browser or shell prompt throguh CLI interfaces under '/cli' directory
Requirements Before starting installation make sure you have working Php and MySQL installations on your server. If you want to create reports with charts you need to download JpGraph from http://www.aditus.nu/jpgraph/. You need to extract JpGraph to a temporary directory and copy .php and .inc files under ./src/ directory to 'jpgraph' directory under pla directory.
# tar -zxvf pla-0.3.tar.gz
# tar -zxvf jpgraph-1.12.1.tar.gz
# cd pla-0.3/jpgraph/
# cp ../../jpgraph-1.12.1/src/*.php .
# cp ../../jpgraph-1.12.1/src/*.inc .
You can either have a separate database for PLA tables or you can use an existing database. If you're going to parse more than 100Mb web log files a day you should have a dedicated database for PLA. To create a separate MySQL database type :
# mysqladmin create logparserdb -uroot -p
and type root password when asked. Database schema for PLA is under './install' directory. In order to create tables for PLA type:
# cd ./pla-0.3/install
# mysql logparserdb < logparserdb.sql -uroot -p
You also need to set user name and passwords for PLA. Edit config-inc.php file and setup database user name and password.
This application is opensource software released under the GPL.
